What is the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance Program?
It is a federally funded program under the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) which enables participants to obtain affordable, decent, safe, and sanitary housing.

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is a federal funded
program to assist low and moderate income families rent decent, safe and
sanitary housing in the private rental market.
The Wadena Housing and Redevelopment Program can support up to 74
households ongoing in Wadena and Wadena County. Eligible Voucher holders
pay a minimum of 30% not to exceed 40% of their monthly adjusted income
towards rent and utilities.
Applicants must fill out an application, and are placed on the
waiting list based on local preference and date and time of application.
Families are assisted as vouchers become available and the approximate
time may vary to receive a voucher for assistance.
